The Clemson football team will take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Thursday evening. Here’s our pick against the spread for the ACC match up.

The Clemson football team will open up the 2019 season with a home game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

The game will be televised live on the ACC Network and will be featured on ESPN College GameDay prior to kickoff.

The Tigers come into this one looking to get the season started on the right foot and move to the win column in conference play. Though the Clemson football program has the advantage when it comes to talent and depth, Georgia Tech has the element of ‘unknown’ on its side.

The Yellow Jackets have a brand new coaching staff with an offense that hasn’t yet been exposed to much film. That, in many ways, gives Georgia Tech a tactical advantage heading into this one.

With that being said, here’s a look at our pick against the spread for Clemson football’s match up with Georgia Tech.

Clemson Football: Pick Against the Spread vs. Georgia Tech

Current Spread: Clemson -36

Spread Prediction:

Believe it or not, we’re going to take Clemson to cover that large spread. Right now, about 56 percent of the money coming in on this game is going to the Tigers and there’s certainly reason to believe Clemson will beat the spread.

Dabo Swinney is not the type to run up a score, but I just think you’re going to see the Tigers score a lot of points and you’re going to see the defense hold Georgia Tech to a fairly low score. A few garbage points could be the difference in this one- in terms of spread- but I think it’ll go in Clemson’s favor.

Current Over/Under: 60

Over/Under Prediction:

Currently, 69 percent of the money is coming in on the ‘Over’ and that sounds right. The Tigers are going to score somewhere between 41-58 points on their own.

I definitely could see a situation where the final score is something like 45-7 or 48-10 and falls just short of the number, but we’re going to take the ‘over’ in this match up just because of the fact it’s more like to see Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne put up a lot of points rather than see Georgia Tech’s questionable defense slow down the Tigers.

The Tigers should be able to take care of business Thursday night and move to 1-0 on the season. Clemson is the more talented team and the depth will be too much for the Yellow Jackets to overcome.
