Two Clemson football wide receivers are working through injuries in fall camp. Dabo Swinney gave updates on each of the two earlier.

Freshman Frank Ladson and Junior Amari Rodgers have both missed the majority of Clemson football’s fall camp with injuries.

Rodgers has missed the entirety of practices and is recovering from a torn ACL, which he suffered in spring camp. Though he wasn’t expected back until much later in the season, he has made a remarkable recovery and is well ahead of schedule heading into the preseason.

Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney said that freshman Frank Ladson had a minor surgery to clean up some knee issues the wide receiver was facing. It was the same surgery, Swinney said, that Christian Wilkins had during the offseason last year.

Both Ladson and Rodgers have been working through their injuries to get back on the playing field sooner rather than later.

When can they be expected back?

Swinney told the media that the Tigers expect to have Frank Ladson back by the end of fall camp and that he should be ready to go for the season-opener against Georgia Tech. Ladson will likely be brought on slowly, but still should earn some playing time in the season-opener.

Remarkably, Rodgers could be back as early as late September. Swinney doesn’t have a clear timetable yet for Rodgers’ return, but it’s clear that it’s going to be sooner rather than later.

He could be back as early as the North Carolina game, but we expect that the Tigers will give him a couple of more weeks of recovery and look to play him against Florida State (the game will be played following a bye week). Having that bye week will be huge for the Clemson football coaching staff as they look to reincorporate Rodgers into the offense and make sure that he’s fully ready to go.

Next. Could Alabama miss the playoff this season?. dark

Of course, that’s not set in stone. The recovery process still takes time and there always could be a stumbling block along the way that could take Rodgers a few more weeks than what it is expected, but right now it seems that the coaches are thinking they’ll have him back in the arsenal well before the midpoint of the season.
