Former Clemson football RB Tavien Feaster will reportedly transfer to in-state rival South Carolina for his final year of eligibility.

It was reported earlier this spring that Clemson football RB Tavien Feaster had entered the NCAA Transfer Portal and was considering flipping schools for his final year of eligibility.

As the summer progressed, Feaster announced that he’d be deciding between Clemson’s in-state rival South Carolina and Virginia Tech.

Feaster took visits down to Columbia and up to Blacksburg and has reportedly made the decision to join the Gamecocks.

He will be eligible to play immediately because he will be joining the South Carolina football team as a grad-transfer. Feaster is finishing up his classes at Clemson currently.

Thoughts:

This is a strange situation for sure. Of course, Clemson football fans will wish Tavien Feaster well, but it’s a bit of an awkward situation for him to choose to go to the Tigers’ in-state rival.

It’s understandable for him to decide on a school that is close to home as he tries to do what is best for him as a football player, but it’s also understandable for fans that choose not to pull for him in a Gamecock uniform.

There are many Clemson football fans that will pull just as hard for Feaster as they did before and that’s completely fine too.

In the end, Feaster made a decision that he believes was best for him. He graduated from Clemson, so Tiger fans should wish him well and be thankful for what he added to the program. It’d probably be a little harder to swallow if the two rivals were close in terms of talent, but it’s clear that the Tigers are light years ahead of the Gamecocks currently.

Feaster will leave Clemson as one of the all-time leaders in yards per carry and quietly had a nice career in three years as a Tiger.

It will be interesting when late November comes around and we get to see the current Clemson football team go up against Feaster on the field. It will certainly be an intriguing storyline and while there’s no love lost between the two parties, I’m sure both sides will want to give their best efforts.
