The 2019 Clemson football summer depth chart was released Monday afternoon. Here’s a look at some news and notes from its release.

The post-spring depth chart for the 2019 Clemson football program was released Monday afternoon with a few surprises.

The depth chart was included in the 2019 Clemson football media guide, which features tons of information about the program and the upcoming season including statistics, storylines and much more.

Here are a few notes from the release of the post-spring depth chart.

  • Derion Kendrick listed as starting cornerback

From what we heard from the Clemson football coaching staff, this doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Right now, the depth chart has AJ Terrell listed as one starter and Kendrick as the other. Kendrick’s backup is Mario Goodrich and Kyler McMichael is listed as second-string behind Terrell.

Right now, Kendrick isn’t listed on the two-deep at wide receiver, but that all could change once we get into fall camp.

  • Wide Receiver Shakeup

The wide receivers are listed a bit differently than what we have expected. Tee Higgins is the starter at boundary with Diondre Overton and Frank Ladson listed as his backups. Justyn Ross is listed as the opposite-side starter with TJ Chase and Joseph Ngata listed as the backups.

Amari Rodgers is still listed as the starter at slot, but he is rehabbing a torn ACL. That would lead us to believe that Cornell Powell- who is listed as second- would be the starter at slot if the season started today.

  • Linebackers a little thin

Just as we suspected, Isaiah Simmons (SLB/Nickel), Chad Smith (MLB) and James Skalski (WLB) are listed as the starters at linebacker. Right now, there is no listed backup behind Smith while Mike Jones Jr. (SLB) and Baylon Spector (WLB) are listed as backups at the other two positions. Jake Venables will likely be the backup at MLB this season.

  • Lines of scrimmage look good

The offensive line is laid out basically as we said it would be. Sean Pollard is the center with Jackson Carman (LT) and Tremayne Anchrum (RT) at the tackles and Gage Cervenka (RG) and John Simpson (LG) at the guards.

Defensively, Nyles Pinckney and Jordan Williams are listed as the starters at defensive tackle. Xavier Kelly is Pinckney’s backup and freshman Tyler Davis is listed as Williams’ backup. Xavier Thomas and Justin Foster are the starters at defensive end with Logan Rudolph behind Thomas and KJ Henry behind Foster.
