Clemson football QB Trevor Lawrence is ranked as the No. 13 overall player in the CFB Fantasy Draft boards, according to experts.
Yahoo Sports will host College Fantasy Football this season as a fun way for fans to keep up with players from around the nation.
With fantasy drafts already taking place and millions more expected to happen over the course of the next month, Yahoo Sports experts released their rankings for CFB Fantasy for the 2019 season.
Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor is ranked as the No. 1 fantasy player in the nation, with Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama QB), Travis Etienne (Clemson RB), Eno Benjamin (Arizona State RB) and Laviska Shenault Jr. (Colorado WR) rounding out the top-five.
Of course, we agree with where Etienne stands. He’s probably not going to put up quite as high statistics as Taylor because he won’t get as many carries, but Etienne will certainly be one of the top backs in the country.
Interestingly enough, the experts have Clemson football QB Trevor Lawrence ranked as the No. 13 overall player on the board.
Though Lawrence is expected to be competing for a Heisman, the Yahoo experts clearly don’t think he’ll be a top-10 fantasy player. While it makes a little sense that Lawrence wouldn’t be quite as high in terms of fantasy- with the Tigers expected to blowout teams this season- No. 13 is still too low.
It’s especially eyebrow-raising when you consider the QBs that the board has ranked ahead of Lawrence. Sam Ehlinger (Texas), Jalen Hurts (Oklahoma) and Justin Fields (Ohio State) are all ranked ahead of Lawrence.
The last time we checked, neither Hurts nor Fields had even played a game with their current team. Both have passing issues at times and it seems as if the board of experts are relying a lot on systems to produce stats. We know that Oklahoma and Ohio State will put up big numbers when they can- whereas Clemson looks to play a bunch of guys- but you can’t possibly tell me that you’d take those guys- even in Fantasy- over Lawrence.
Lawrence could potentially throw for more than 4,000 yards while keeping his interception total low. There’s no other QB in the nation that will do that, other than possible Tua Tagovailoa.
If you’re putting together a CFB Fantasy team this season, we certainly recommend Trevor Lawrence as your starting QB and don’t think you’ll be disappointed with the results.
We will take a look at where each Clemson football player that made the board falls and where we would consider taking them in a fantasy draft.
