SEC Analyst Paul Finebaum hit the nail on the head when talking about the rivalry and hatred from South Carolina fans toward Clemson football.

Over the years, we’ve disagreed with Paul Finebaum in his analysis of many things Clemson football.

However, he hit the nail on the head in his latest analysis of the Clemson-South Carolina rivalry and, especially, how Gamecock fans perceive their rival after losing five-straight.

Finebaum was on WJOX 94.5 and said South Carolina fans are ‘wrought with pure jealousy and hatred’ towards Clemson football.

"“The difference is that South Carolina, under that other guy Steve Spurrier who Carolina fans want to trash, had won five straight over Dabo Swinney,” Finebaum said via Tigernethttps://www.tigernet.com/update/Paul-Finebaum-Gamecock-nation-fraught-with-jealousy-and-pure-hatred-for-Clemson-33175. “We were talking about Clemsoning and the program teetering. And now that Swinney is going for sixth straight, it has made Gamecock Nation fraught with jealousy and pure hatred for Clemson. It’s stunning to watch that and they can’t believe it.”"

You can see this in how the vast majority of the fan base has interacted on social media. From tweeting at Clemson football players to basically celebrating when Xavier Thomas’s car was reported stolen, the entire fan base has taken their jealousy up to a whole different level.

It’s okay to not like your rival, but it’s a whole different thing to wish nothing but bad things on them, as Gamecock fans have done. They’ve almost lost it in their hope to see the program fall. They continue to see the Tigers stockpiling National Championships and competing with Alabama and they’re struggling to beat Kentucky.

It’s a hopeless situation to be in if you’re a fan of the Gamecocks. Though the program in Columbia is improving, they’re all in the shadow of what’s going on up in the Blue Ridge. It will be interesting to see how fans of South Carolina react if the program does a take this year- with a tough schedule- and loses its sixth-straight game to Dabo Swinney and Clemson football.

Finebaum even went on to say that everyone knew that Alabama would be dominant, but that Clemson has been dominant, as well. Though we don’t always see to eye-to-eye with Paul Finebaum and his analysis, in this case he hit the nail on the head in the best possible way.
