Which 2019 Clemson football freshman will make the biggest impact immediately for the Tigers? There are a few candidates in this talented class.

The 2019 Clemson football freshman class had 29 total signees, with 17 enrolling early.

This past weekend, the rest of the class made their way on campus and enrolled in classes. They are now beginning to work out with the team and take part in player-led activities.

In just a little over a month, Clemson football will begin fall camp and competition will abound as the Tigers fight for playing time and prepare for the upcoming season.

As we look ahead to the 2019 Clemson football season, there are plenty of freshmen that could potentially make an immediate impact.

Which true-freshman will make the biggest impact in 2019?

Though candidates always emerge in the fall that we weren’t expecting, the easiest answer comes down to a handful of guys.

DT Tyler Davis, CB Andrew Booth, TE Jaelyn Lay, CB Sheridan Jones, WR Frank Ladson, WR Joseph Ngata and potentially one of the linebackers or running backs.

Without a doubt, Tiger fans are going to see freshman Tyler Davis make an impact. He’s the easiest choice. Davis had one of the best springs of any player on the team and is playing a position without much depth. Those two things alone will give the opportunity to play a lot of snaps in 2019.

Andrew Booth, who just enrolled this summer, will also have an opportunity to earn playing time and potentially start. Booth is one of the best guys in coverage we have seen at Clemson. He and true-freshman counterpart Sheridan Jones will both have chances to play immediately in that defensive backfield.

Both Ladson and Ngata are going to play because they’re just too prolific to keep off the field. They don’t even look like freshmen.

Freshman TE Jaelyn Lay is going to play out of necessity. The Tigers only have three scholarship tight ends eligible. Lay is going to be thrown into the action whether he’s ready or not. A linebacker like Vonta Bentley or Kane Patterson, or a running back like Michel Dukes or Chez Mellusi could also emerge as a key reserve, but none of those guys are going to be starters.

This season, I’d have to go with Tyler Davis as a key reserve, Andrew Booth as a potential starter, both Ladson and Ngata at wide receiver, and Jaelyn Lay as a potential starter as the freshmen with the greatest chance to make an impact.
