Where will former Clemson football running back Tavien Feaster end up transferring? It seems the consensus is he’ll stay in-state.

It seems that there are really only two options for former Clemson football RB Tavien Feaster at this point, as far as transferring is concerned.

He’ll either stay in the ACC and transfer to Virginia Tech or he’ll stay in-state and transfer to rival South Carolina. The Gamecocks seem to be the favorite at this point.

Feaster, a Spartanburg native, will graduate in August and join a program as a grad-transfer then. He took a visit to Virginia Tech a couple of weeks ago and then he went to South Carolina this past week to watch the Gamecocks’ football camp.

Though the running back listed several other schools- including Texas, Alabama and East Carolina- when he talked about his interests, it seems more and more like he is down to the Hokies and Gamecocks.

It will obviously be a strange situation if Feaster chose to transfer from the Clemson football program to South Carolina. Josh Belk transferred from Clemson to South Carolina, but that was a bit different. Belk never really played for the Tigers and transferred before ever even being on the team for a season.

Feaster, on the other hand, is a guy that has won two National Championships with the Tigers. He has been a key reserve on those teams that have made it to the CFB Playoff and he leaves Tiger Town as the all-time leader in yards per carry, at least until Travis Etienne finishes his Clemson football career up.

In the end, the young man has to do what’s best for him. He wants to go somewhere where he can get more playing time and South Carolina will certainly allow that. The Gamecocks won’t be a championship contender- which is something Feaster mentioned when talking about what he wanted in his school- but perhaps will give him a chance to get some film against several SEC defenses.

It will be interesting to watch this develop, but right now all signs and sources indicate that the Spartanburg product will be heading just an hour down I-26 for his final season of college athletics.
