Clemson football DT commit Demonte Capehart was upgraded from a 4-star prospect to 5-stars, according to the 247 Sports’ Composite Rankings.

One of the top commitments in the 2020 Clemson football recruiting class is defensive tackle Demonte Capehart.

Capehart, a native of Hartsville, SC, is one of the top prospects to come out of the state of South Carolina in quite some time, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

He joins fellow South Carolinian Jordan Burch (5-star DE from Columbia, SC) as one of just two South Carolina prospects to be noted with 5-stars by the 247 Sports’ Composite Prospect Rankings.

Capehart, originally a 4-star, was upgraded to a 5-star in the latest composite rankings. He is now ranked as the No. 26 overall player in the country and the No. 2 defensive tackle in the nation. He is also the No. 2 player in the state for the 2020 class, just behind Burch.

Interestingly enough, the only listed defensive tackle ahead of Capehart is fellow Clemson football commit Bryan Bresee, a 5-star from Damascus, Maryland. The two are currently the only 5-star defensive tackles in the nation in the composite rankings.

Analysis:

When you look at Capehart, you see absolute dominance. He’s playing Class 4A competition in South Carolina, which is fairly decent, and is absolutely just playing like a monster.

He will have to work on his technique and leverage once he gets to college because he won’t be pushing around collegiate offensive linemen like he is able to do in double-team situations in high school, but it certainly won’t take long before Capehart is able to make an impact for Clemson football.

Capehart has deceptive agility for his size and is going to be a force to be reckoned with when he does arrive on campus later next year.

In addition to Capehart and Bresee, the Tigers also have a commitment from 4-star DT Tre Williams, who is considered the No. 5 defensive tackle in the nation.
