Two 2020 wide receivers have been pinpointed as the top targets for Clemson football in the current cycle. Where do the Tigers stand with the athletes?

The 2020 Clemson football recruiting class doesn’t have many spot remaining.

The Tigers currently have the No. 1 class in the nation, according to the 247 Sports’ Composite Team Rankings, and are in good shape to hold on to that ranking for the remainder of the cycle.

Clemson has garnered commitments from several elite prospects and 5-stars, including guys like 5-star DL Bryan Bresee, 5-star QB DJ Uiagalelei, 5-star DB Fred Davis, 5-star RB Demarkcus Bowman and 5-star DE Myles Murphy.

The Tigers have their eyes set on a few more prospects for the 2020 cycle as they will likely take somewhere between 2-7 more commitments in this class.

One position that the Tigers haven’t gotten a commitment yet is at wide receiver. Most likely, Clemson will want to take two wide receivers at the position and the top two targets have been identified.

4-star EJ Williams and 4-star Xzavier Henderson are the top two targets on the board at wide receiver.

Henderson is reminiscent of Tiger freshman Frank Ladson. He is a speedy guy with athleticism and the ability to break away in his running ability.

Henderson isn’t expected to announce his decision until February. He is going to release a top group of schools in a few weeks and will begin taking official visits later this summer and into the fall.

Williams is a guy with great hands that can do a little bit of it all. He’s not a dominant boundary guy like Justyn Ross or Tee Higgins, but certainly has the ability to go up and highpoint the ball and beat the defender. Williams would be a great complement to the Tigers’ young receiving core and could come in and contribute right away.

Currently, Williams has said that Alabama is his leader, but the Tigers are still in good position. He is expected to be back for the All-In Cookout and will make a decision in August.

Other than Williams and Henderson, Clemson football is also targeting 3-star WR Ajou Ajou. Ajou picked up an offer from the Tigers at camp last week. The Tigers may try to get a commitment from Williams and then take a commitment from Ajou, instead of waiting until February on a decision from Henderson.
