CFB Analyst Phil Steele released his predictions for the season and he had Clemson football making it back to the playoff for a fifth-straight year.

Each year during the summer, we get a full breakdown of every team in the country by CFB Analyst Phil Steele.

Steele has been in the business of looking at each FBS team for quite some time and typically is able to at least give a little perspective on what we should expect during the season.

Though his predictions are never spot on and he always has a few surprises, Steele is certainly a respected individual around the College Football community.

He released his predictions for the upcoming season and had Clemson football getting back to the CFB Playoff for a fifth-straight season.

Phil Steele’s Projections:

Steele has Clemson football being beaten by Alabama in the National Championship game. He also has Georgia and Michigan as the other two teams in the CFB Playoff field.

He said that he believes both Alabama and Georgia will enter the SEC Championship game undefeated and the loser will still get in the playoff.

He thinks that Alabama will be motivated to beat Clemson because of how badly the Tigers dominated the Crimson Tide the last time the two programs squared off.

Though I enjoy many of Steele’s predictions and preseason breakdowns, I disagree with the playoff field. First, I don’t see any way that Georgia, Alabama and Clemson all go undefeated. We always think that teams are going to go undefeated and it very rarely happens.

I think you could see Clemson and one of those SEC teams finish spotless in the regular season, but someone’s going to be upset at one point or another.

Also, I’m over the whole ‘Michigan’ predictions. The Wolverines literally just got trounced 41-15 in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. They’re not a nationally relevant team under Jim Harbaugh, as far being a playoff contender is concerned.
