Clemson football running back Lyn-J Dixon is under the radar for the vast majority of national pundits, but he will make an impact in 2019.

When everyone talks about Clemson football in 2019, they bring up the usual names: Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etienne, Justyn Ross and Tee Higgins.

All four of those guys are going to be All-Americans this season and certainly deserve the praise and attention they are receiving, but there’s another play-maker that could make an enormous impact for the Tigers in 2019 that no one is mentioning. That player is sophomore running back Lyn-J Dixon.

With the news that Tavien Feaster would be transferring out of the Clemson football program, Dixon is now in line to be the second-string running back behind Etienne and get a lot of snaps as a result.

He could end up carrying the ball close to 150 times this season, without a doubt. Dixon was used sparingly as a freshman, but certainly made an impact when he got on the field- usually late in games.

He carried the ball 62 times for 547 yards and five touchdowns, an average of 8.8 yards per carry. Dixon also caught one pass and ran for 41 yards. If he stays on a similar pace, Dixon could be responsible for somewhere between 10-17 touchdowns in 2019.

That’s definitely more than just a role player.

Dixon has an opportunity to become a feature back and make his name known to the College Football world this season. I believe he and Etienne could develop into the best ‘one-two punch’ in America. They’re both extremely hard runners and are threats to take the ball to the house any time they touch it.

Dixon will need to earn the coaching staff’s trust in pass-protection, but there’s no doubt that we’re going to see a lot of the talented running back this season.
