Clemson Football: Vegas odds vs. Georgia Tech are extremely high

The first Vegas odds have been released for Clemson football’s season-opener against Georgia Tech, and the number is higher than expected.

The Westgate Superbook released its opening lines for several games to start the season, including Clemson football’s opener with Georgia Tech.

The Tigers are 34-point favorites against the Yellow Jackets in a home game on a Thursday night to begin the 2019 season.

The game is the kickoff for the newly-launched ACC Network.

As we look at the 2019 Clemson football season, it’s clear that the Tigers will be overwhelming favorites in the vast majority of the games they play. As a matter of fact, I’d venture to say that Clemson will be a double-digit favorite in every single game it plays this year barring injury or something unforeseen.

When you look at that 34-point number, though, it is definitely higher than expected. If I were setting a line, it probably would’ve been somewhere between that 28-31 range for this one. Georgia Tech has the element of surprise on their hands because the Tigers won’t have any film to prepare for them ahead of time, with the new system and new group of coaches.

However, it’s clear that the Clemson football program has more talent and much more depth than what the Yellow Jackets could offer.

The Tigers typically don’t come right out of the gate putting up a ton of scores, either, which is something to take into account. Normally, the Clemson offense takes a little bit of time to kick into gear.

Though the 34-point spread is higher than expected, it is certainly not surprising. The Tigers are clearly one of the two top programs in the country and they have too much talent to be overlooked by Vegas.

The oddsmakers clearly love Clemson football and believe that the Tigers are going to continue the run they started back in 2018 when the new season begins in less than three months.
