Clemson football freshman linebacker Bryton Constantin will be rehabbing an injury, but he’ll have time to develop into an elite play-maker.

Bryton Constantin will redshirt his freshman season.

It’s not necessarily because Clemson football couldn’t use him this season at linebacker, but because of an injury he suffered just a few months ago. Constantin tore his ACL and underwent surgery.

He’ll be on campus later this summer, but is planning to redshirt to rehab the injury.

He probably won’t be back at 100 percent until around January of next year, but there is a chance that Constantin could get cleared to play late in the season and contribute, potentially on special teams, in up to four games and still maintain his redshirt.

Throughout the past month, we have taken a look at many 2019 Clemson football freshmen. Let’s continue that series with a breakdown of Bryton Constantin.

Talent Analysis:

Constantin is the type of linebacker the Tiger coaching staff wants in their lineup. He is the perfect blend of physicality and athleticism. He’s pretty solid in pass coverage for a linebacker coming out of high school and is elite at tracking down runners and creating havoc in the backfield.

Constantin could stay at his current weight and play outside linebacker, or he could put on some pounds and move inside.

Currently, I think he’ll project as an outside linebacker, maybe filling in at that SAM/Nickel role or perhaps even moving over to WILL. He has good sideline to sideline speed and does an excellent job closing in on runners.

The good news is that Constantin isn’t a finished product, but he’s certainly not a developmental project, either.

Once he returns from injury and begins working in the weight room, I think there’s a good chance we see him compete for playing time in the two-deep as a redshirt freshman.
