5-star QB DJ Uiagalelei announced his commitment to the Clemson football program Sunday afternoon, cementing the Tigers’ place atop the 2020 board.

The 2020 Clemson football recruiting class was taken to the next level Sunday afternoon when 5-star QB DJ Uiagalelei announced his commitment to the Tigers.

Uiagalelei became the fourth 5-star to commit to Clemson football and was the 14th overall prospect for the cycle.

The Tigers now sit atop the 247 Sports’ Composite Team Rankings with 273.62 points, nearly 20 more than second place LSU and Clemson has an average of 95.72, which would make it the top class in the history of College Football if things ended today.

While we’ll talk about more in-depth about the 2020 Clemson football recruiting class later, Sunday was more about Uiagalelei.

Analysis:

Uiagalelei has arm strength similar to Trevor Lawrence and he is built like a tank. Trevor Lawrence is projected to go No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft a couple of years from now. Uiagalelei is the next best quarterback and is a generational talent.

Clemson now has three generational quarterbacks back-to-back-to-back coming to the program with Deshaun Watson starting the trend, followed by Lawrence and now Uiagalelei.

Uiagalelei has the talent to start at basically any program in America right away, but chose to come to Clemson because of the family atmosphere, trajectory of the program and the fact that he wants to grow in his faith, as well as academically.

He isn’t just a fit talent-wise for Clemson football, Uiagalelei is the type of player that will better the culture of the program.

Uiagalelei is going to fit right into that Clemson offense. He has the arm talent to get the ball out to the play-makers, as well as the leg talent and strength to run the RPO-game effectively.

We will have a more in-depth analysis of Uiagalelei’s film and much more over the week. Make sure you check back here on Rubbing the Rock for more analysis, news and updates on the Tigers’ newest big-time commitment and the 2020 recruiting cycle, in general.
