Just a few weeks ago Clemson baseball was flying high, but the Tigers had been in a bit of a losing streak as of late. They’ll attempt to get back on track this weekend.

The Clemson baseball team snapped an eight-game losing streak Wednesday evening when they beat Tennessee Tech at home 7-4.

Though the Tigers snapped the losing streak, they are still currently on a seven-game losing streak in the ACC heading into the weekend.

Clemson (26-16 overall, 11-10 in the ACC) hasn’t won a game in conference play since the very beginning of April when the Tigers hosted Louisville. Clemson baseball was swept by both Florida State and Duke the subsequent weekends.

Things don’t get much easier for the Tigers, either, heading into this weekend. Clemson will travel down to Atlanta to take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Georgia Tech is currently No. 11 in the nation and tied for first in the ACC Coastal. The Yellow Jackets have their eyes set on hosting a regional and even perhaps slipping in as a national seed.

Georgia Tech is an experienced team with some depth in the pitching rotation and some really good power in the middle of the lineup.

What’s gone wrong?

It’s been a mixture of things that have gone wrong with Clemson baseball since the beginning of April. The Tigers have had inconsistent starting pitching and the defense has committed too many errors or just made bad plays.

The Tigers’ bullpen has struggled at times, as well, but that is a product of starting pitching not going very far into games, at least in some cases.

Clemson has also been bitten by the injury bug, but it seems that most of the players will be back in the next couple of weekends.

The Tigers need to turn things around and it was good to see them get back on the winning side of things Wednesday evening. Hopefully that game will create a little momentum heading into the weekend.
