Several former Clemson football players will hear their names called during this weekend as the 2019 NFL Draft gets underway.

As we enter the 2019 NFL Draft, there’s an expectation that we will see several former Clemson football players begin their respective professional careers.

One of the best parts of the NFL Draft is keeping up with those former college players and seeing how they react when they finally hear their names called.

Some won’t have to wait all that long.

Others may have to wait a couple of days or the entire weekend before they finally see where they will end up. Others will sign undrafted free agent deals and will have a chance to show what they are capable of doing in an NFL Training Camp in a few months.

Here’s what to expect from the Clemson football perspective in the 2019 NFL Draft.

  • Three First-Rounders…

I expect that Clelin Ferrell, Christian Wilkins and Dexter Lawrence will all go in the first round. There is potential that Big Dex could fall to an early pick in the second round, but I think we’re going to see all three of them hear their names called Thursday night.

Wilkins and Ferrell will most likely go somewhere between 13-20 and Lawrence somewhere between 19-30. Keep your eye on the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Indianapolis Colts, New York Giants and Tennessee Titans who all have defensive line needs and have expressed interest in the former Clemson football players.

  • Fast forward to the middle rounds…

I don’t expect a Clemson football player to be taken in the second round. The only one that really has a chance is Trayvon Mullen, but I think you’ll probably see Mullen taken in the early parts of the third round.

After him, look for Tre Lamar and Austin Bryant to go in the fourth round with Mark Fields and Hunter Renfrow most likely going around the fifth or sixth rounds.

Next. Albert Huggins will be a late-round gem. dark

  • Late rounders and undrafted free agents…

On the final day of the NFL Draft, expect to hear Mitch Hyatt and Albert Huggins get their names called. Fields or Renfrow could also fall to the later rounds, as well, depending on how things shape out at their position.

With Hyatt and Huggins drafted, the Tigers will have 10 players drafted, which would tie the program record for most players taken in a single draft.

I expect Kendall Joseph to be a high-priority free agent following the draft, as well.
