Former Clemson football linebacker Tre Lamar is projected as a mid-rounder by the vast majority of NFL Mock Drafts.

Former Clemson football linebacker Tre Lamar is projected to be a mid-rounder in the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft.

Lamar, a talented linebacker, has been seen in NFL Mock Drafts anywhere between late-third round and early-fifth round.

In the latest Mock Draft from CBS Sports, Lamar is projected as a fourth-rounder to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Thoughts:

The Steelers are in need of a bit of linebacker depth and would be a good fit for Lamar. That would give him a couple of years to develop a bit more as a linebacker, particularly in coverage, and live up to his potential.

Lamar projects as an inside-linebacker at that next level and has always been a good run-stuffer. He’s a hard-nose guy that is great in pursuit of the football and finishing off plays.

Lamar will need to work on overall foot speed and his pass-coverage abilities, though, to develop into a great NFL linebacker.

Teams see his potential and that’s why he’s going to go in the mid-rounds, but it will take him a couple of years to develop into that potential, in my opinion.

Lamar is a hard-worker and I’d imagine that he interviewed well. Though he was quiet with the Clemson football program, it’s clear from watching his film and interviews that he has a high football IQ and knows the game really well.

Next. Jake Venables will compete at linebacker. dark

That’s exactly what you want from a linebacker that is going to have to come into a system and learn different concepts at a fast pace. I’d expect that Lamar could do that at an efficient rate, no doubt.

In my opinion, the fourth round sound about right for Tre Lamar. He has the potential to develop into an elite linebacker that starts and plays many years in the NFL.
