Just how many Clemson football fans will be in attendance Saturday afternoon when the Tigers host their annual spring game?
You never really know what to expect when you talk about the Clemson football spring game and crowds.
Why?
With the game being free to the public, it’s sort of a guessing game as to how many fans will show up. A lot of it has to do with the weather. Much of it has to do with the success of the team at the time.
This year for Clemson football’s spring game, though, officials are expecting record crowds.
In 2017, a record 60,000 people were officially reported for the spring game. Last season, around 55,000 were reportedly on hand for the scrimmage.
This spring, there’s an expectation that the number will be more than last year and will compete with that record-setting season two years ago in 2017. Spring game traffic can vary, but if you are planning to head to the game, the good news is that traffic won’t be quite as bad as during a regular game day.
But, I would still encourage you to arrive early.
The scrimmage will start at 2:30 p.m. but there will be plenty of other festivities to take part in well before the event takes place. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Clemson will be hosting Be a T.I.G.E.R. Field Day on the lawn at Littlejohn.
At 12 p.m., the Sons of Clemson game will take place in Death Valley. Admission for that is free to the public, as well. If you don’t arrive early, you may have a hard time finding seats in the lower bowl. With huge crowds expected to be in attendance, I would treat this like a regular game day.
Get there early, enjoy tailgating and make a day of it.
Don’t forget that following the spring game, Clemson baseball will be taking on Louisville at 5 p.m. in Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
