5-star Clemson football cornerback target Fred Davis has been a top prospect for quite some time. He was recently predicted to the Tigers.

This week, in particular, is a big week for Clemson football recruiting.

The Tigers are hosting several top prospects this week for the 2020 recruiting cycle. One of the prospects who visit Clemson football is CB Fred Davis.

Davis is considered a 5-star by some services and a 4-star by others. He is a 4-star by the 247 Sports’ Composite Rankings, but will move up to a 5-star before the rankings are completed, in my opinion.

Just recently, 247 Sports’ Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong put in a crystal ball for Davis in favor of Clemson football. Wiltfong has been following the situation pretty closely and seems to have a good gauge on what Davis is leaning at this point.

The Jacksonville, Florida native is believed to be considering Clemson and Ohio State, with the Tigers leading for his services.

Analysis:

Davis is rated as the No. 3 cornerback in the nation and certainly has the talent to make an impact fairly early on in his career.

I really like his ability to lockdown receivers. His athleticism and physicality are what set him apart. Davis is very aggressive when it comes to going up and getting the ball. He’s comfortable in both press-man and zone situations and it’s clear that he has a high football IQ.

Davis will bulk up a little more during his senior season and first season of college football. That added weight will allow to be able to better compete with bigger-framed wide receivers.

The 6-foot-1 height that he has allows for a few more pounds, which will enable him to be a more physical corner with elite speed.
