The 2020 Clemson football recruiting class has the chance to be special. The Tigers are recruiting some of the top talent from around the nation, including 4-star DB RJ Mickens.

4-star DB RJ Mickens, a native of Southlake, Texas, is a talented safety product that has the ability to make a major impact for whichever school he chooses to sign with.

According to 247 Sports’ Crystal Ball, Mickens is considered to be a heavy Ohio State lean. From all accounts, he wants to go out of state and the program that has garnered the most interest from him has been the Buckeyes.

While that may have been the case for quite some time, it seems that Mickens is begin to trend slightly in another direction.

247 Sports recently placed a crystal ball prediction for Mickens in favor of Clemson football.

With the prediction, the crystal ball has Ohio State as a 60 percent favorite to win his services with Clemson at 20 percent and undecided at 20 percent.

Thoughts:

The current crystal ball situation would still lead me to believe that Mickens is favoring Ohio State, but he is seriously considering Clemson.

Mickens visited Clemson back in November of 2018 during the Tigers’ rout of Louisville. He is expected to be back in Clemson this weekend for the Tigers’ second junior day.

Mickens is rated as the nation’s No. 1 safety and is being highly recruited by the Clemson football coaching staff. He is communication with the staff very often and I think the Tigers are in good sitting with him.

It will be interesting to see how his recruitment unfolds, but I don’t believe we’ll be seeing a decision from Mickens, one way or another, for at least a few more months.

His talent, athleticism and physicality would, without a doubt, be a huge asset for the Tigers in 2020.
