Clemson Football: K’Von Wallace emerging as a leader for the Tigers
Clemson football is in need of players to step up and provide leadership on this 2019 team. K’Von Wallace has been that guy so far for the Tigers.
The Clemson football team in 2019 has plenty of talent, but the experience is not quite as strong as it was in 2018 when the Tigers brought home the National Championship.
In 2018, Clemson football had Christian Wilkins, Austin Bryant, Kendall Joseph, Clelin Ferrell, Dexter Lawrence, Albert Huggins, Trayvon Mullen among others returning defensively. Now, all those guys are gone.
With their departure, they’ve left a huge hole of leadership that must be filled.
Luckily for the Tigers, the secondary returns plenty of seasoned guys with Isaiah Simmons, Tanner Muse, AJ Terrell and K’Von Wallace coming back as starters.
Through the first couple of spring sessions, Wallace has stepped up and provided leadership and guidance for the defense.
That’s exactly what the Tigers need heading into the rest of the spring and into the summer for 2019.
Emerging as a leader…
K’Von Wallace has a ton of experience and is going to be relied upon heavily this year, not only with his on-the-field skill set, but with his vocal leadership.
Guys are looking up to him and the Tigers have several new freshmen coming in at safety. Wallace has a chance to not only be a captain and leader in 2019, but to make an impact on those freshmen that will be garnering more playing time in seasons to come.
He has the personality and skills and it’s really been a good thing for the Tigers to see him stepping up as a vocal leader. Vocal leaders are going to be held to a higher standard, though, as they will be looked at to lead drills and bring their best effort day-in and day-out.
Hopefully, we see Wallace improve in all facets of the game heading into this season, and he increases his draft stock and leaves the Clemson football program better as a result.
