The Clemson basketball team is looking to make a run down the stretch and, following a win over Pittsburgh, the Tigers are seemingly peaking.

The Clemson basketball team has not lived up to the expectations of most Tiger fans this year.

The Tigers started out conference play with a really tough schedule and only went 1-5 in the first six ACC games. After that, they went on a little bit of a run, but then lost three-straight, including a bad loss on the road at Miami.

After two-straight wins, things are looking a little better for the Tigers- who are now 7-8 overall in ACC play with three games remaining.

Clemson basketball will play a tough game against No. 5 UNC this Saturday at home before finishing up the regular season with a road game at Notre Dame and a home game against Syracuse.

Somehow, the Tigers need to find a way to go 2-1 in the last three.

Making a run…

Going 2-1 in the final three games would make Clemson 9-9 overall in the ACC. While going .500 in the regular season probably wouldn’t normally get you in the NCAA Tournament, the bubble this season is weak and open for a team like the Tigers to get in despite just going .500.

An upset win over North Carolina this weekend would be a resume-building win, as well.

I’m not saying it’s going to happen, but the Tigers are playing better basketball as of late. They looked dejected against Florida State. Even though they’re playing lesser opponents in Boston College and Pitt, you could see them playing with more confidence.

I think that confidence is going to bubble over into the UNC game and, who knows, maybe the Tigers can get the job done.

Next. Clemson DTs will be tested in spring. dark

Elijah Thomas is playing with more authority and you’re starting to see the light come on with some of the bench players- especially Hunter Tyson who had a good game at Pittsburgh.

It will be interesting to see what Clemson basketball can do down the stretch. It’s a tough road, but the road to the NCAA Tournament is certainly not out of the question.
