Clemson football defensive end Clelin Ferrell has an opportunity to be one of the top picks of the NFL Draft. Here’s his NFL Combine preview.

Clemson football defensive end Clelin Ferrell is one 11 Tigers that will compete at the NFL Combine next week.

The combine, which will start Tuesday, February 26 and run through Monday, March 4, will allow prospects a chance to improve their draft stock and show what they are capable of doing before the upcoming NFL Draft later this spring.

Through the rest of this week, we’ll be giving you a profile on each of the Clemson football players that will be participating in the event. Today, we continue our series with Clelin Ferrell.

NFL Combine Profile:

Name: Clelin Ferrell

Height: 6-foot-4

Weight: 265 pounds

Draft Grade: 1st Rounder

How will he perform?

Ferrell is projected to be around to be picked somewhere between 10-15 in the first-round of the NFL Draft. He’s one of the top defensive ends in the draft and he proved that this season.

I like Ferrell’s ability to rush the passer and set a hard edge. He has really good football IQ and I think that will show up in the NFL Combine and as he meets with executives over the next couple of months.

It’ll be interesting to see how Ferrell performs in some of the drills and how scouts come away from the combine thinking of him. He already has some good film, so I don’t think the combine will help or hurt him all that much.

One area that may give NFL executives a little pause on taking Ferrell that high is the fact that former Clemson football defensive ends Shaq Lawson and Kevin Dodd haven’t performed up to their potential as of yet. That’s a small thing, but those are the type of discussions and thoughts that are going to happen.

dark. Next. No QB controversy for Clemson this spring

I expect Ferrell to test well and to solidify himself as a top-13 type pick. He could go as high as No. 8, but I think you’ll see right in that No. 10-12 range.
