The Clemson football wide receiver group is, without a doubt, the deepest and most talented group in the country heading into the spring.

When you think of Clemson football, you think of #WRU.

The Tigers have produced some elite wide receiver talent- Sammy Watkins, DeAndre “Nuk” Hopkins, Mike Williams, Artavis Scott  and many others- over the past few years and have plenty more well on their way to the NFL.

As spring practice is just around the corner, we’ve begun giving you a quick preview of each Clemson football position. We started with the quarterbacks and running backs, and now we’ve made our way to wide receiver.

Here’s our preview of the Tigers’ at wide-out heading into the spring.

What to watch for:

The biggest question about wide receivers coming into this spring is if the Tigers can find a way to replace Hunter Renfrow’s consistency and productivity from the slot and underneath. Renfrow opened up things for Ross and Higgins to get going in the deep passing game.

The Tigers will need a guy to step up and be that consistent underneath option that acts as a safety blanket for Trevor Lawrence. That guy- or guys- will need to be able to catch the ball in tight coverage and in important 3rd down situations.

There’s certainly talent to do it.

Here’s a look at the wide receivers Clemson football will have in the spring to work with: Tee Higgins, Justyn Ross, Amari Rodgers, Derion Kendrick, Diondre Overton, Cornell Powell, TJ Chase, Frank Ladson, Joe Ngata and Brannon Spector.

Talk about depth.

This wide receiver group is the deepest and strongest in the country. I’m interested in watching how the Tigers choose to fill Hunter Renfrow’s spot and how much more we see four wide-out sets in 2019 in the place of a tight end as a way to get these play-makers on the field.
