The Clemson football program is one of the few programs from around the country not recruiting out of the transfer portal.

The transfer portal is the new craze taking over the world of College Football.

We’ve seen big names from around the country, as well as many others, enter the transfer portal in search of more playing time and a way to get out of their current situation.

It almost has created a sense of free agency in College Football because many of the players are garnering waivers so that they don’t have to sit out a year or lose a year of eligibility.

While it certainly has to be tempting for opposing programs to nab a former 4-star or 5-star recruit with three years of eligibility remaining out of the portal, Clemson football is one of the few programs seemingly not interested in the portal.

As a matter of fact, there has been no talks concerning the Tigers and the portal since it opened.

While many other elite programs, including Ohio State and many others, have looked to get prospects out of the portal, Clemson has continued to look inwardly. It’s sort of the same thing that Dabo Swinney has in place where the Tigers don’t recruit JUCO players.

I think Clemson football is setting the precedent that they want their players to be “All-In” to the program. They don’t want to recruit a guy that’s choosing to leave his school because of lack of playing time, even if he could help the team. They would rather go with a guy that has waited his turn and earned his playing time.

It’s just another way we are seeing Clemson football differ from the rest of the nation. There may come a day where that mindset has to change, but I think Dabo Swinney wants to show his players that he is committed to them and that he wants the same from them.
