A forgotten weapon for Clemson football in the wide receiver corp is Diondre Overton. The talented play-maker will make an impact in 2019 for the Tigers.

The Clemson football wide receiver corp is the best in the nation.

The Tigers have a dynamic duo in Tee Higgins and Justyn Ross that the national media outlets talk about a ton. But, outside of the elite talents of Higgins and Ross, there is a ton of talent that we forget about.

Guys like Derion Kendrick, Amari Rodgers, Cornell Powell, freshmen Frank Ladson and Joe Ngata.

One guy we don’t talk about near enough, though, is Diondre Overton.

Overton had 14 receptions for 199 yards and three touchdowns in 2018. He has been the back-up at that boundary position for Clemson football. I think we could potentially see Overton used differently in 2019 as a senior.

Could you potentially see him play in the slot with a four wide receiver set? There is a lot of potential that we see Tee Higgins, Overton, Justyn Ross and an Amari Rodgers or Derion Kendrick on the field at the same time every game this season.

Overton is a very physical receiver who has the ability to go up and get the ball. He also is very solid in route-running and does a solid job in blocking, as well.

He’s a lethal and explosive threat that, in my opinion, will get on the field a bunch this season. I think we’re going to see the Clemson football coaching staff mix up those wide receivers and find ways to get that group on the field as options for Trevor Lawrence in the passing.

The result will be more receptions and opportunities for guys like Overton who are looking to break into the NFL and make an impact in a final season with the Clemson football program.
