Clemson football has consistently gotten some of the top prospects from around the country. Is Tiger coach Dabo Swinney the best recruiter in the nation?

The Clemson football program has consistently risen over the past few years to the point of being considered one of the top two in the nation.

As a matter of fact, one would certainly have a strong argument to say that Clemson football is the top program in the nation and that it is on a level of its own, at least for the time being.

With that being said, it’s not easy to recruit to Clemson, historically at least.

Let’s not pretend that Tiger Town was a destination for all the top recruits 15 years ago. As a matter of fact, there was a time with Clemson football where you were excited to sign 3-star recruits and 4-stars were almost out of the question.

But, times have changed.

Dabo Swinney has made Clemson a recruiting destination. Even if the top prospect doesn’t sign with Clemson, he wants to make a visit to Tiger Town.

Why? Because there’s something special about Clemson.

You’ve all heard the phrase: “There’s something special in these hills” when referring to Clemson. While that has always reigned true for the Tiger faithful, it took Dabo Swinney coming and building the program for it to be reign true for recruits.

Swinney came in, built a special program and showed the nation just how special it is to be “up in these hills.” He has the facilities now and the program has turned into a monster, funneling out NFL talent left and right and basically selecting the prospects it wants while having to turn down others due to limited spots.

Prospects are lining up at the doors to see Clemson. Even the elite ones that decide it’s not for them will tell you that there’s something special happening at Clemson. They love the facilities. They love the program. They love the atmosphere.

But, most of all, they love Dabo Swinney.

Dabo Swinney is one of the best recruiters in the nation. He saw the potential that Clemson had many years ago and bought in. He got the Tiger faithful to buy in. And, now he’s getting elite recruits to buy in.

He’s beating out the top recruiters in the nation and is only getting better. There may be fan groups out there that say that Swinney isn’t the best recruiter in the country.

But, I’ll say this:

If you gave each head coach in the nation one visit with a prospect to try and pick up a commitment, I believe wholeheartedly Dabo Swinney would have the greatest chance of getting the job done.

And, it might not even be close.
