How many prospects will Clemson football take in 2020? Here’s a look at the early numbers for the Tigers in 2020 recruiting cycle.

The 2020 Clemson football recruiting class is set to be one of the best in school history. As a matter of fact, this may be the most talented class ever for the Tigers once it’s all said and done.

The coaches have their sights set on several talented prospects that are currently some of the best in the nation.

Clemson leads for several 4-stars and 5-stars early in the recruiting process.

Here’s a look at the early numbers the Tigers will be looking to take in 2020.

Offense:

  • Quarterback (1-2)
  • Running Back (2)
  • Wide Receiver (2-3)
  • Tight End (1)
  • Offensive Line (4-6)

I expect the Tigers to take at least one more offensive lineman in the class. Currently, though, I think you’ll see them be very selective with their wide receivers. I think you’re going to see 5-stars Julian Fleming and Rakim Jarrett commit as the top prospects there.

At quarterback, the Tigers are really only recruiting DJ Uiagalelei, but you could see them take one more guy for depth purposes if a spot opened up.

You’ll see two running backs taken because of the fact that Tavien Feaster and- most likely- Travis Etienne will be gone after this season. But, some of that will depend on how the Tigers close in 2019.

Defense:

  • Defensive End (2)
  • Defensive Tackle (3)
  • Linebackers (3-4)
  • Defensive Back (3-5)

Defensive back is kind of a fluid situation right now. After 2019, you are guaranteed to lose Tanner Muse, K’Von Wallace, Isaiah Simmons (nickle), Denzel Johnson and most likely AJ Terrell. The Tigers have several talented freshmen coming in from the 2019 class, as well as a few more guys already on campus, but you’ll still see a few defensive back commitments in this class.

The most prominent are Luke Hill and Henry Gray, both of which are 4-stars.

The Tigers have one more spot for a defensive tackle should they choose to take it and will most likely try to get two defensive ends- Bryan Bresee, Myles Murphy and Jordan Burch are the top choices.
