Clemson University Athletic Director Dan Radakovich should get some credit for the building of the Clemson football program.

While Clemson football fans continue to celebrate the Tigers’ National Championship victory, we shouldn’t overlook a key individual who played a role in the success of the program.

Of course the players, Dabo Swinney, the assistant coaches, the fans and the students deserve credit.

But, one guy we forget about a lot of times is Athletic Director Dan Radakovich.

Radakovich has been a staunch proponent for the facility updates you see now for Clemson football. He has also been a huge supporter of Dabo Swinney and the culture that Swinney has built over his tenure as head coach.

When you have an athletic director that really supports a program like Radakovich has, it makes it that much easier to be successful. Without him, who’s to say the Tigers ever get that indoor practice facility? Or the oculus?

Radakovich certainly deserves credit for buying into Swinney’s vision and seeing it through to fruition.

Other sports…

In addition to the success of the Clemson football program, Dan Radakovich has been instrumental in the improvement of many other athletic programs for the Tigers.

Radakovich brought in Monte Lee, who has been building the baseball program. He hired Amanda Butler, who has really turned that Clemson women’s basketball program around and has the Tigers in position to make the NCAA Tournament after being the worst team in the ACC just a year ago.

He was a big part in bringing softball to Clemson, which s in its early stages.

Even Tiger fans that think Radakovich should get rid of Brad Brownell have to admit that he’s really done a great job building the athletic programs as a whole for Clemson University. Just last year, the Tiger basketball program made it to a Sweet 16, which is a feat rarely accomplished in the history of Clemson basketball.

Radakovich has done an excellent job as Athletic Director for Clemson University. The future is looking bright and, in my opinion, he’s the best AD in the country.
