The Clemson basketball team just defeated the Pitt Panthers 82-69 on Wednesday. Here’s the early look at Bracketology for the Tigers heading into February.

The Clemson basketball team was able to rebound after a few tough losses with a monster win Wednesday night against the Pitt Panthers.

The Tigers moved to 12-8 on the season and 2-5 in the ACC.

While the NCAA Tournament seems like a long shot, it’s certainly not out of the question for Clemson. If the Tigers can find a way to string together some victories in the back-half of this schedule and perhaps pull off an upset, they’d be squarely back in the mix.

It’s an uphill battle and it won’t be easy, but it can be done.

Here’s a look at Bracketology heading into February.

NCAA Bracketology:

Believe it or not, the Tigers are currently in the “Next Four Out” category in  Joe Lunardi’s bracketology.

That means the Tigers are still just a couple of spots away from being in the tournament. Right now, Lunardi has eight ACC teams getting into the big dance. I think that number could potentially be raised to nine if the Tigers showed some fight down the stretch.

You’re going to need a good outing in the last 11 games of the season.

In my opinion, Clemson basketball needs to find a way to win eight more. That would put the team at 10-8 in the ACC to close the year and would most likely lock up a bid in the NCAA Tourney. To do that, you’ve got to go 8-3 in the last 11.

Are there eight wins on the schedule?

That’s a tough question at this point. If we see the Clemson basketball team that we saw Wednesday night play, then the answer to that is yes. The Tigers were shooting lights out and showed promise from behind the three-point line.

If they can’t continue to hit (not that they need to hit 60 percent of threes or some crazy number like that), it will be tough to pull off an upset or two down the stretch.

The season isn’t over despite what many think, but it’s certainly going to take a concerted effort to get the job done.
