Clemson football picked up a huge commitment from the nation’s No. 3 defensive tackle this past weekend. Here’s a look at 4-star Tre Williams.

The 2020 Clemson football recruiting class has a chance to be one of the best in school history.

The Tigers are recruiting a ton of star power and are really zeroing in on some of the top prospects in the nation.

One of those committed this weekend.

4-star defensive tackle Tre Williams, a product of Washington D.C., committed during the Tigers’ first Junior Day of 2019 this past Saturday.

With his commitment, Clemson picked up its second defensive tackle in the class. Williams will join fellow 4-star Demonte Capehart, who is considered to be the nation’s No. 2 defensive tackle.

Clemson Football Recruiting Profile:

Name: Tre Williams

Hometown: Washington, D.C.

Height: 6-2

Weight: 295

Star Rating: 4-star, nation’s No. 3 DT

Analysis:

When you look at this kid’s film, you’ll see that he is a work horse. His feet don’t stop and he just keeps grinding through his block.

You don’t see Williams trying to finesse around offensive linemen or step through. He is all about taking on his blocker, beating him and then finding the ball carrier. That’s what you really like to see from a defensive tackle.

Williams has the potential to develop into around 310 pounds before he steps on campus in 2020.

I’d expect him to eventually play somewhere between 305-325. He doesn’t have as big of a frame of Dexter Lawrence, but I do expect him to play big and be a lethal talent inside for the Tigers.

Next. Junior Day 2019: Final Thoughts, Analysis. dark

It will be interesting to see how Williams develops as a senior this year and what he’s able to do during his final year of high school. He has a high upside and I believe you’ll be able to see him come in right away and factor into the depth chart for the Tigers.
