In light of the semi-cold weather we’re experiencing, here are some freezing cold takes from the 2018 Clemson football season.

It’s South Carolina weather at its finest.

One day, you’ve got a 60 degree day and then next the high is in the 40s.

With the amount of semi-cold weather we’ve had, though, I thought it would be fun to look back at some freezing cold takes pertaining to Clemson football over the past year.

These takes are mixtures of analysts, players and fans. They are only meant to be fun and lighthearted. So, if you’re ready, take a look at some of the best freezing cold takes of 2018.

We’ll begin with ESPN College GameDay Analyst Desmond Howard.

This happened before the whole transfer decision from Kelly Bryant. Desmond Howard said Clemson football using two quarterbacks was a slap in the face of Bryant. He doubled-down on his thoughts a few weeks later when Bryant made the decision, saying that the Tigers would lose games because of Bryant’s transfer and saying that Trevor Lawrence wasn’t ready to lead a team to a National Championship.

Howard would basically stay on his tirade against Clemson until he quietly faded out after the Tigers continued to win and dominate.

Boy, was he wrong.

Some of those tweets about finesse aren’t really holding much weight after watching Clemson football dominate that “powerful” Alabama team in the National Championship.

How about this one from Corey Miller who has since deleted his Twitter…

"Kelly Bryant should have never been benched! He didn’t lose his job it was robbed from him! There was no need to change. The ACC is terrible and they are going to win regardless! They have zero depth at QB now and as KB said it was a slap in the face.— Corey Miller (@pastorofpain)"

Outside of the whole Kelly Bryant thing, though, there were a ton of analysts who just absolutely couldn’t give Clemson football any credit when the Tigers were taking on Alabama.

Outside of Clemson, how about this take from ESPN analyst David Norrie. Little did he know the Bulldogs would lose- for the third time- in just a couple of days against Texas.

Even after the National Championship game, we have freezing cold takes. There are certain Gamecock fans that just can’t admit/stand that Clemson beat Alabama. It’s so bad, they’re calling into radio shows trying to discredit the Tigers.

There’s also a few Alabama players that don’t know how to lose with class…

Alabama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams said that Clemson’s offense was nothing special and that the Crimson Tide beat themselves. Many of the same sentiments were echoed by Tua Tagovailoa after the loss.

There are plenty of others that we could probably pull out, but I think it’s safe to say that 2018 was the “year of the freezing cold take” at least when it came to Clemson football. The majority of the country- not everybody- never paid the Tigers the respect they deserved until they just completely dominated Alabama.

Even then, though, some just can’t handle the truth.
