Avid SEC supporter and longtime analyst Paul Finebaum actually admitted on his show that Clemson football currently had a better program than Alabama.

Paul Finebaum has been a skeptic of Clemson football for as long as the Tigers have been elite.

Ever since Dabo Swinney’s rise to the top of College Football, he’s continued to be questioned by Finebaum, at least to a point. Finebaum has been complimentary at times to Clemson football, but never when it came to the mighty Alabama Crimson Tide.

As a matter of fact, Finebaum was one of the staunch believers that both Bama and Georgia were better than Clemson.

Throughout the season, he fully expected the Tigers to lose a game and not even make the CFB Playoff. He said on numerous occasions that no one was anywhere close to Bama and that this Crimson Tide team could be the best to ever take the field in College Football.

Boy, was he wrong.

Finebaum finally admitted two weeks after the National Championship game that Clemson is, indeed, better than Alabama- at least right now. He was asked if he would agree that Clemson is at least equal or, possibly ahead, right now compared to Alabama.

"“I’m going to say this just to you and me because I don’t want anyone else to hear,” Finebaum said via Tigernet. “Ok? I think of at this moment; today, I think Clemson is ahead of Alabama. I just don’t think you can get around it. I think the trajectory is marginally better and it is for the obvious reasons. First of all, Trevor Lawrence I think is the best quarterback in the country coming back next year. I think Clemson’s staff is significantly better than Alabama A to Z. You can argue with Saban and we know his standing, but after that, I would take Brent Venables, and I would certainly take the two offensive coordinators over anyone Alabama has. I appreciate the call now that I probably will not be able to get out of the studio alive.”"

This may be the first take I’ve ever agreed with Finebaum on. The Tigers have continued to keep the same coaching staff, which has created great continuity. They’ve got just as much talent as anybody in the country and the recruiting has been elite.

The one thing I love about Clemson when it comes to recruiting is the fact that Dabo Swinney and his staff don’t just recruit stars. They look far and wide for the guys that are going to be the best fit for the program. They don’t just recruit to get a bunch of talent either, they recruit to their needs.

All of those things combined are what have Clemson sitting atop the College Football world.

And the best is yet to come.
