It’s Clemson football’s Trevor Lawrence versus Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa. How can you not love the marketing for the game that ends the CFB season?
The Clemson football team will take on the Alabama Crimson Tide for the National Championship.
If it weren’t already enough that the two teams have met for the last four years, with Bama leading the series 2-1 currently, there’s a new marketing tactic out there for media outlets this year.
We’ve had marketing where you’ve seen Deshaun Watson versus a dominant Alabama defense. You’ve also seen the whole ‘two dominant defenses’ promotion from last year.
But, this year it’s something much more. Do we still have the two dominant defenses? Yes.
As a matter of fact, I think Clemson’s defense this season is better than in years past. But, there’s the beauty of marketing two talented quarterbacks going up against one another.
It’s Trevor Lawrence vs. Tua Tagovailoa.
For everyone saying that they’re tired of watching Clemson football play Alabama, you can’t say that you’re not excited for this matchup.
Both of these quarterbacks are expected to be the No. 1 player taken in the NFL Draft when they leave.
Tua finished as the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy. Lawrence is the nation’s best freshman. In my cases, these two quarterbacks are the most-loved quarterbacks in the nation.
People love Tua because of his ability to put up big stats and his big personality. People love Trevor Lawrence because of his cannon for an arm, calm demeanor and long hair.
It’s a marketing masterpiece.
The game really has nothing to do with the two quarterbacks dueling. The quarterbacks will be going up against the opponent’s defenses. Both guys have their own set of skill position players that they can rely upon.
But, it’s still something fun to think about.
And the crazy thought is this…There’s a big chance we see this same thing next year.
