The Clemson football team will take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the National Championship. Here are the early Vegas odds for the matchup in Santa Clara.

Clemson football absolutely dominated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Cotton Bowl.

The CFB Playoff semifinal ended in a 30-3 win for the Tigers. With the win, Clemson advanced to the National Championship game for the third time in the past four years.

The Tigers will face a foe all too familiar in Santa Clara next Monday.

The Alabama Crimson Tide, winner of the Orange Bowl by a score of 45-34 over Oklahoma, will be looking to take home a second-straight National Title with a win over the Tigers.

Here’s an early look at the Vegas odds heading into the matchup.

Clemson Football Early Vegas Odds:

Current Spread: Alabama -6

Current Over/Under: 59.5

Analysis:

The Crimson Tide actually started out as 6.5-point favorites, but that line has dropped to six at the current time of this writing.

The spread is as high as seven points according to a few books and no lower than six from what I can tell.

That means Vegas thinks Alabama is about a touchdown favorite heading into this one. The Crimson Tide have an elite quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa and a very solid defense.

This will, without a doubt, be the toughest game of the year for both opponents. It will be interesting to see how the Tigers choose to attack Alabama’s defense, which has a few questions in the secondary.

The same can be said for Clemson’s secondary and how Alabama attacks the Tigers. The total on the game is currently at 59.5. That means Vegas thinks we’re going to see around a 34-27-type ball game.
