Clemson football will take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish this week in the Cotton Bowl. The Irish have become a bit of the ‘trendy pick’ down the stretch.

The Clemson football team will take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Saturday in the Cotton Bowl for a chance to advance to the National Championship.

Both teams are beginning their practice time in Dallas and will be looking to improve to 13-0 with a win.

While Clemson is a heavy 13.5-point favorite, it seems that Notre Dame has become the trendy pick here with a little less than a week before kickoff.

While most analysts are still picking Clemson to win the game outright, many believe the Irish will cover the spread and some are even toeing the line of upset. We won’t get many national analysts’ picks until later this week, so here’s a look at some of the Notre Dame fans and their latest thoughts on the Cotton Bowl matchup.

Thoughts:

They’ve got an article out talking about how Notre Dame beats Clemson, which has some really good quotes from Irish football players and their thoughts on the game, so I thought I’d add that Tweet into the post.

As far as others, it’s certainly fun to see fans pulling for their team.

The very first Tweet, in my opinion, carves out the path to a Clemson football victory. As long as the Tigers refrain from making mistakes and make a few big plays, they’ll win the game. The key will be limiting Ian Book and that Notre Dame passing attack.

It does seem like every year around this time after we’ve had several weeks previewing the playoff, we start to see analysts come out with trendy picks and try to overthink themselves. We saw it a lot when Clemson was playing Ohio State.

It will be interesting to see if that’s the same kind of deal this year or if the Irish are truly ready to compete with and, possibly, beat the Tigers.
