Clemson football defensive coordinator Brent Venables has been tied for plenty of jobs in the past. The latest is his alma mater, Kansas State.

Legendary coach Bill Snyder announced that he would be retiring from Kansas State following 25 years as a Wildcat.

Snyder leaves Kansas State with a 215-117-1 record and a legacy unlike any other. He certainly is, without a doubt, one of the best coaches to ever set foot on a College Football field.

With that being said, Kansas State is now looking for a replacement.

One of the biggest rumored names is Clemson football defensive coordinator Brent Venables. Venables graduated from Kansas State and even went back and was an assistant coach under Snyder as a graduate assistant from 1993-95 and as a linebackers coach from 1996-98.

Too much invested?

I couldn’t blame Brent Venables for wanting to be the head coach of his alma mater. There’s something special about going back to the school you graduated from and it’s clear that Bill Snyder and that Kansas State football program hold a special place in Venables’ heart.

With that being said, I just don’t think it’s in the cards right now.

Venables really has enjoyed his time with Clemson football. He loves living in Tiger Town and his son- Jake Venables- is on the team as a linebacker. I think Venables wants to coach his son through college and I believe that will be too much for him to accept a job at another institution.

Venables’ name is always rumored for jobs this time of year and through January, but he has always remained true to the fact that he loves it here in Clemson and he loves getting to be a Defensive Coordinator.

Next. Many OSU fans think Dabo would coach Buckeyes. dark

Other Tiger assistants:

Just a quick update on other Tiger assistants. Tony Elliott told the media that he hasn’t been contacted by any schools so far. Elliott’s name has been rumored with Georgia Tech and a few other smaller programs.

Jeff Scott’s name has been rumored with several different jobs, but not many of them make sense. There’s one rumor that Willie Taggart has talked to Scott at FSU, but what sense would that make?

It will be interesting to see how some of these things develop and what the Clemson assistants will decide over the next few months.
