Could Clemson football come away with a commitment from what may be the most talented high school quarterback in recent history?

The 2020 Clemson football recruiting class is already beginning to be built.

The top prospect for the Tigers in that 2020 cycle is 5-star quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, a native of Bellflower, California.

Could the Tigers pick up a commitment from the elite quarterback? It seems that he is trending towards Clemson football.

Analysis:

There are plenty of talented quarterback prospects, but there are none like Uiagalelei. He’s 6-foo-4 and 240 pounds as a junior in high school.

This kid is built for the NFL already.

When I watch his film, it makes me think a little of Daunte Culpepper. He’s got some speed, but he really likes to do is throw the ball all over the field and use his strength and explosiveness to power over defenders.

His arm is very similar to Trevor Lawrence’s. When you watch his highlights, you’ll see that the two make very similar plays and fit the ball into tight windows.

There are plenty of quarterbacks that are rated as 5-stars, but aren’t really 5-stars. He’s not one of them.

Uiagalelei is the real deal. If he commits to Clemson, he’ll be coming in with the mindset of playing right away. He’s almost a perfect mixture of Tajh Boyd and Trevor Lawrence, in some ways.

He’d probably have to wait his freshman season because Lawrence would be a junior that season, but after that he’d be the next great quarterback for the Clemson football program.

247 Sports Lead Expert Greg Biggins put in a crystal ball prediction for Clemson recently after Uiagalelei visited Tiger Town.

USC, Alabama and Oregon seem to be the biggest competition for his services. Right now, I think the Tigers are in the lead, but USC isn’t far behind. Things can change pretty quickly, but it would be great to see this guy don the orange and purple.
