Clemson football is currently ranked No. 2 in the CFB Rankings, but many Notre Dame fans think there is a clear divide between the Tigers and the Irish.

The Clemson football team is coming off a 35-6 win over the Duke Blue Devils on what was Senior Night and Military Appreciation Day.

Now, the Tigers are just one win over in-state rival South Carolina away from completing a perfect regular season before heading to the ACC Championship Game for a chance at a fourth-straight conference championship.

While most believe that Clemson deserves its No. 2 ranking in the College Football Playoff poll, Notre Dame fans believe that the Irish should be No. 2 following their dominant performance over Syracuse this past weekend.

Here’s a look at what some of the Fighting Irish fans had to say when comparing the Tigers and Notre Dame.

If you look far and wide in Twittersphere, you’ll find a lot of people that just don’t believe in Clemson. As Mr. Gumby points out, he believe the Tigers- at 13-0 mind you- should be left out if Georgia beats Alabama.

There are others in the Tweets above that say that the Tigers shouldn’t even be in the playoff picture. That Clemson struggled with Syracuse at home while Notre Dame completely blasted the Orange.

I guess everyone likes to forget that the Tigers were playing their third-string quarterback and had just gone through the most dramatic situation they could’ve possibly gone through in the week leading up to the game.

Notre Dame fans also like to rewrite history. There are some saying that they’ve “dominated teams” all year while Clemson has struggled to beat mediocre teams. I may ask you, Irish fans. What team has Clemson struggled with this year besides Syracuse? Are you having to go all the way back to September and pull Texas A&M out? Yes, you would have to do that because the Tigers have absolutely dominated every single team they’ve played for the last month and a half.

The last time I checked, Notre Dame struggled with Pittsburgh. And I really don’t care about the “four wins over teams in the top-25.” Anyone that watches football knows that Northwestern isn’t a top-25 team.

In the end, though, I think Tiger nation would be fine with Notre Dame moving to the No. 2 spot. That would only give more fuel to Clemson heading into the College Football Playoff.

Of course, Notre Dame could join a conference and it could be settled before the playoff ever started. But, I don’t think the Irish would be too fond of that idea.
