Clemson football senior wide receiver Hunter Renfrow was knocked out of the game vs. Duke. The Tigers had good news about his injury following the matchup.

Clemson football wide receiver Hunter Renfrow ran down the hill with a deafening applause Saturday night as the Tigers honored the seniors.

Renfrow has been a great ambassador for Clemson football since arriving on campus as a walk-on many years ago.

He made what may have been the biggest catch in program history two years ago when he caught the game-winning touchdown against Alabama.

In the first half of Senior Night, though, Renfrow went down with a scary injury.

He dove for a ball that was just a little off-target from Trevor Lawrence and would’ve made the catch, but it seems he knocked himself out and hit the ground really hard.

Renfrow was able to walk off on his own power, but you could tell that he was a bit dizzy and shaken up. He didn’t return and the latest news during the game was that Dabo Swinney would give an update on his injury following the game.

Seemingly Good News…

Well, following the 35-6 win against Duke Saturday night, Clemson Co-Offensive Coordinator Jeff Scott told the media that Renfrow could’ve returned, but they wanted to be cautious with the senior.

That is seemingly good news for Clemson football as the Tigers trek on towards the game against South Carolina next weekend and then a revenge game with Pitt in the ACC Championship game the following week.

Dabo Swinney said that Renfrow is under evaluation and that they’ll know more Sunday.

It seems as if they’re talking about standard concussion protocol. The way that the coaches have talked about it, it reminds me a lot of Trevor Lawrence’s injury against Syracuse earlier this season. We all know that Renfrow will want to play his final career home game against South Carolina next week.

Either way, you need to make sure that you’re completely good to go before suiting up. I believe the training staff will do what’s necessary, as they always do, and if Renfrow is healthy enough to compete, we’ll see him next Saturday. If not, he’ll sit out and continue to get better.

dark. Next. Clemson takes care of Duke, turns sights to SC

UPDATE (Sunday): Dabo Swinney said that Hunter Renfrow was good, but that he is still being evaluated. They haven’t said for sure what the injury is.

UPDATE (Monday): Jeff Scott said that Renfrow is progressing well. The coaches haven’t said that he’s in concussion protocol. It looks like the coaches are confident he’ll be back soon, but say it’s too early to tell if he’ll be back for South Carolina.
