Clemson football freshman Trevor Lawrence has now started six games. Here’s how the young gunslinger has graded through the first portion of his career.

People are going to associate Trevor Lawrence and Clemson football together for quite some time.

The freshman gunslinger came into the program and worked his way into the starter role after just four games.

Now, we’re officially 10 games into his career and the freshman has six starts under his belt. Let’s take a look at how Lawrence has performed since taking over as the starting quarterback for Clemson football. We’ll begin by looking at his stats through the six starts.

Stats (Through six starts):

Lawrence is 113-of-168 for 1,244 yards with 10 touchdowns and just two interceptions. That’s a completion percentage of 67 percent and a yards per attempt average of 7.4.

Not a bad little stat line for a guy that has only been on campus since January. On the season, Lawrence is averaging 8.09 yards per attempt and has 19 touchdowns to just four interceptions. His QB Rating is 158.6, good enough for first in the ACC and 15th in the nation.

Lawrence is also second in the ACC in completion percentage and in yards per attempt.

Grading Out:

He’s doing all of this as a freshman.

To me, that should warrant merit. Lawrence has stepped in and continued to get better this season. He has learned from mistakes and maintained a calm and cool demeanor while doing so.

Lawrence has gotten better as a leader, as well.

He is still working on perfecting the deep ball, but basically every single other throw he is completing pretty much to perfection. Sometimes, I think he holds the ball a little too long as he’s waiting for a route downfield to develop instead of hitting his check man, but that will come with time.

Lawrence has very good pocket presence to be a freshman and I think we’re going to continue to see him grow up over the next few games.

Grade: A-

There are still plenty of things for him to get better at, but you’ve got to give him credit for what he’s done so far and how he has taken over as a leader on this team. Lawrence is going to be a special talent and is position to lead Clemson football to a National Championship this year as a freshman.
