In the aftermath of a huge loss to Clemson football, Florida State coach Willie Taggart said he felt like several of his players quit on their team.

Clemson football gave Florida State its largest loss ever at home Saturday afternoon.

After not even scoring in the first quarter, the Tigers took advantage of a couple of costly mistakes from the Seminoles and ended up taking a 28-0 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, the Tigers just came out and put the exclamation point on the game, ending up with a 59-10 win.

The Seminoles didn’t score until the game was firmly in hand. As a matter of fact, it was 45-0 with only three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

It was clear that many FSU fans quit on their team as the stadium was near empty by the end of the game and one ‘Nole fan decided he’d rather read a book than watch his team get blown out by Clemson.

Following the game, though, FSU Head Coach Willie Taggart said he felt like the team had a few players that “quit” against Clemson football.

Dejected…

It was clear to me that Florida State played undisciplined and played with their emotions on their sleeves. After playing that way and getting knocked down a couple of times, you can’t keep on getting back up.

It’s tough for a team to continue to fight when they know that they’re just completely outmatched.

I think this game was definitely a statement from Clemson football to the nation, but it was also a statement from the Tigers’ program to Florida State. There’s a sizeable gap between those two programs right now and that couldn’t have been more obvious Saturday afternoon.

It will be interesting to see if Taggart can rally the troops for next week or if the beat down from the Tigers is just too much for the Seminoles.
