Clemson football wide receiver Tee Higgins is getting ready to explode onto the national stage with a strong final five regular season games.

Clemson football wide receiver Tee Higgins is finally making his presence felt in the Tigers’ offense.

Higgins came into this season primed to be the next Mike Williams and a huge downfield threat in the passing game.

Unfortunately for him, there were few times early in the season where his skill set was utilized. He had a few instances where the ball was overthrown and just wasn’t able to get into any kind of a rhythm.

Of course, I still should mention that he still put up pretty good numbers.

But, with that being said, we’re starting to see a difference in Higgins’ targets, catches and utilization here as of late.

With the progression of Trevor Lawrence, the Tigers are looking to pass the ball more. In the month of September, Higgins never had more than four catches in a single game.

In October, though, we’ve seen a change.

Higgins had 5 catches for 55 yards and a touchdown in the win against Wake Forest and had 8 catches for 119 yards and a touchdown against NC State. I think he’s primed for much more than that as we head into the last five regular season games.

Poised for a Breakout…

No wide receiver at Clemson is ever going to average what wide receivers at many other schools may average. That’s because the Tigers spread the ball around and get a lot of different guys involved.

But, here’s my prediction for the next five games: I think we see Higgins lead the Tigers in receiving yardage and touchdowns.

He’s too good to not get the ball and we’re going to see a lot more from the talented sophomore here in the back-half of the season.

Higgins finally has a quarterback capable of getting the ball to him consistently and they seem to have made a connection as of late. I think we’re going to see Higgins have a breakout performance here as we close out the regular season and end up vying for many postseason honors and accolades.

Higgins has the talent to be one of the very best in the ACC and I think we’re going to see that from him here as we head into November.
