Following an impressive win over the NC State Wolfpack, Clemson football made a statement to the nation that it was ready to compete at the highest level.

The Clemson football team absolutely dominated the NC State Wolfpack Saturday afternoon in Death Valley.

From start-to-finish, the Tigers were the better team and outplayed the Wolfpack in every facet of the game.

There have been plenty of Clemson football doubters throughout the season, but all of those doubters were put to silence Saturday.

Now, we know it will only be a short amount of time before those doubters pull out the “Clemson plays a weak schedule” card, but after watching that game Saturday, we all know the Tigers are for real and are certainly deserving of being in the College Football Playoff if they win out.

With the win and an Ohio State loss, the Tigers moved from No. 3 in the nation to No. 2. Here’s a look at the top-10 of the latest AP Top-25 poll:

AP Top-10:

  1. Alabama
  2. Clemson
  3. Notre Dame
  4. LSU
  5. Michigan
  6. Texas
  7. Georgia
  8. Oklahoma
  9. Florida
  10. UCF

Thoughts:

When looking at the poll, I think it’s very interesting that Texas is No. 6 in the nation. It shows, in my opinion, just how top-heavy the world of College Football is right now.

Honestly, it’s Alabama then Clemson then everyone else. At least that’s how I see it.

Notre Dame may be undefeated, but the Fighting Irish are not playing at a high level. LSU is playing good football, but I don’t think they’ll be a match for Alabama when the two match up.

If you’re Clemson football, I think you’ve kind of gotta be pulling for Michigan to win out and get that No. 3 spot. A game against the Wolverines, assuming health, would almost be a give-me to the College Football Playoff.

There’s still a lot of football to be played, though, but the pecking order has now been defined and will stay that way unless someone breaks the status quo:

It’s Alabama No. 1. It’s Clemson No. 2. And then there’s everyone else.
