Will Saturday be the day that we see the complete ability and potential of Clemson football freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence?

Will Clemson football freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence have a breakout game Saturday afternoon against the NC State Wolfpack?

We’ve all seen it over time.

Every single freshman phenom has that one game in which they really introduce themselves to the College Football world and give the entire nation something to talk about.

Now, with Trevor Lawrence, things are a little different.

Lawrence is already very well-known around the nation. Why? Because he was apart of one of the biggest storylines in all of College Football when it was announced that former Clemson football quarterback Kelly Bryant would transfer following the Tigers’ decision to start Lawrence.

Even with that being said, we’ve seen the nation respond with questions about Lawrence’s ability to win and to compete as a freshman.

So far, he hasn’t put together a spectacular game. He’s only had two chances as a starter and one of the games he was injured less than midway through.

The question is if NC State could be the game in which Lawrence has his “breakout performance.”

He’s in position…

Despite the fact that Lawrence has only been a full-time starter for two games, he is currently No. 10 in the nation in passing efficiency. He also leads the ACC in yards per attempt and passer rating heading into the bye week.

It’s time for us to see a huge performance from the young freshman. And what better week to do it?

NC State is No. 83 in the nation in passing defense and they haven’t played any prolific quarterbacks to this point. I expect the Wolfpack to bring pressure and try to make the young freshman uncomfortable.

If he can find the open man and take what the defense gives him, he’ll be able to get into a rhythm. That will open up the offense and give Lawrence a chance to have a big day.

My prediction:

I think you’re going to see Lawrence throw for more than 200 yards and at least two touchdowns on the day. It very well may be more, but I think those numbers certainly will be attainable for the young freshman this Saturday in Death Valley.
