Clemson football defensive end Clelin Ferrell wanted a night game in Death Valley. The best chance for that to happen didn’t come to fruition.

Clelin Ferrell expressed the thoughts of many Clemson football fans when he spoke to the media Monday about the Tigers’ match up against NC State.

The senior defensive end for Clemson football said he was hoping the game against the Wolfpack would be at night.

He went on to say that “it’s about time for a night game in the Valley,” according to The State’s Matt Connolly.

The last chance…

Sadly enough, this may have been the last chance for Clemson football seniors to experience a night game in Death Valley.

The Tigers have but three remaining home games following the NC State match up: vs. Louisville, vs. Duke and vs. South Carolina.

Unfortunately, none of those opponents are looking like night-worthy match ups, at least right now.

Maybe South Carolina turns things around and wins a couple of games down the stretch. That very well may be Clemson’s only chance to get a night game at home this season.

Guys like Clelin Ferrell, Christian Wilkins, Austin Bryant, Mitch Hyatt, Justin Falcinelli, Kendall Joseph and others deserve to experience a night atmosphere at home one more time, but I’m not convinced that they’re going to get that luxury.

The remaining opponents just aren’t good enough and the best chance for a night game was, without a doubt, this one against an NC State team that is ranked inside the top-20 with both teams coming into the game undefeated.

Next. Could every remaining home game be at noon?. dark

Instead, ESPN elected to put Ohio State vs. Purdue in the prime time slot. Yes, that Purdue team that is currently 3-3.

It’s ridiculous and absolutely a poor choice by the four-letter network. To me, it’s part of their “give Ohio State the exposure it needs to make the College Football Playoff at all costs” narrative. But, hey, maybe I’m wrong.
