Clemson football won’t be featured at home on ESPN College GameDay in 2018.

Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and Rece Davis won’t be visiting Clemson this season. The popular show featuring the four co-hosts elected to head up to Pullman, Washington to see the Washington State Cougars take on the Oregon Ducks in a game that may decide the Pac-12 North.

The story here is the fact that for the last 216 consecutive shows, the Washington State flag has flown behind the crew on College GameDay, but the show has never visited Washington State.

They will now make their first trip.

Thoughts:

As far as actual implications go, Clemson vs. NC State would have been a much better choice for the crew.

The winner of this game will basically win the ACC Atlantic Division. This is a match up of top-15 teams. But, it just shows the lack of respect that ESPN has for the ACC in general, in my opinion. There was a chance to feature the two top programs in the ACC this year playing against each other and do it in one of the best atmospheres in the nation, but the show elected to go with loyalty.

You can’t blame ESPN College GameDay for wanting to go to Pullman and this is probably their only opportunity for quite some time.

This does mean that we won’t see Clemson featured on College GameDay at home this season. It will be at least 2019 before the show returns to Tiger Town.

I’m not quite as upset about the College GameDay not coming to Clemson as I am by the fact that the network elected to put Ohio State vs. Purdue in the prime time slot over the Tigers vs. the Wolfpack. To me, that’s just ridiculous.

Overall, though, the Tigers will just need to come out ready to play and pick up yet another victory in Death Valley.
