Clemson football quarterback Trevor Lawrence suffered an injury Saturday afternoon against Syracuse, but he didn’t want to leave the game.

Despite suffering a pretty scary injury Saturday afternoon, Clemson football quarterback Trevor Lawrence wanted to return to action.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney met with the media following the team’s 27-23 win against Syracuse and updated Lawrence’s injury.

Here’s what Coach Swinney had to say via Tony Crumpton of Tigernet.com:

"“He’s really doing great,” Swinney said. “He actually wanted to come back in and play. He got banged up and had concussion-like symptoms and you just don’t mess with that…He tried to come back in but you trust your doctors.”"

Trevor Lawrence Update:

Honestly, this sounds like really good news. Swinney didn’t say “concussion,” which means this injury is probably a mild one. You still never know what to expect with a concussion-like symptoms, though, and the Tigers will need to trust the training staff to make the right decision for Lawrence.

Lawrence took a shoulder to the head in the second quarter and was unable to return. He did look a little dizzy when he got up. Hopefully, it will be a quick recovery for the young freshman and he’ll be able to be back with the team before long.

There’s a chance, without a doubt, that Lawrence could be ready for the game against Wake Forest this weekend. If not, though, he will have a bye week to recover and hopefully be back the following week when the Tigers take on NC State.

Other Injuries:

Both Cornerback Trayvon Mullen and Right Tackle Tremayne Anchrum both suffered injuries this week, as well. Mullen rolled his ankle in the second half of the game against Syracuse and freshman Kyler McMichael stepped in and played a great game.

Anchrum, according to Swinney, rolled his ankle in practice earlier in the week and just wasn’t quite ready to go at kickoff today.

Hopefully it’s nothing too serious and I’d expect both of these guys to be back next week and available.
