The Clemson football team cruised to a 49-21 win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Saturday afternoon in Atlanta.

The Tigers were led, in part, by freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence entered the game early in the second quarter and basically played the rest of the game until midway through the third quarter.

He finished the contest 13-of-18 passing for 176 yards and four touchdowns to one interception.

Instant Analysis:

The Tigers started off this game a little bit slow. The defense couldn’t get off the field and then the offense didn’t move the ball at all in the first quarter. As a matter of fact, the Tigers had just 13 total yards in the first quarter.

The defense was able to force a fumble that Clelin Ferrell recovered in the end zone for a touchdown. Tech fumbled the ball a ton of times, but only lost it that one time.

When Lawrence entered the game, though, the offense was just different. His first drive of the game, Lawrence led the Tigers on a seven play, 74-yard drive that ended with him finding Hunter Renfrow in the end zone.

Another thing  I liked from the offense was the fact that they gave the ball to Travis Etienne. In the first quarter, they got away from him. But, in the second quarter and second half, he really was a focal point of the offense. Etienne finished the day with 11 rushes for 122 yards and a touchdown.

Backup running back Tavien Feaster also had a nice day, rushing eight times for 75 yards and a touchdown.

Dexter Lawrence too much for opposing defenses. dark. Next

Overall, it was a solid win for the Tigers and this was certainly the best that the Clemson football offense has looked in quite some time. It will be interesting to see what the coaching staff says about the quarterback competition going forward.
